As a Christian it is important to examine all views on prophecy. This is the same dogma of the WW Church of God under Armstrong and Plain Truth Magazine which was a 1980s sensation, and a theological viper. i feel you can hold this prophecy dogma with little effect on your Salvation. Im simply that USA after the defeat of Britain was a new world power. the prob with smart people is that they argue trivial instead of the major points.

Britain was the richest and most powerful country on earth from 1800-1945After WWI and WWII, and massive debt, they were not able to keep their empire. Just like the French and Dutch lost their empire. Daniel Hannan, a British Conservative MEP to the European Union, pointed this out. Funny how he made a connection between Britain then and the USA now. With 10 trillion in debt you still say that the US will keep its power. The lessons of history can’t support your conclusions.
The bible can be interpreted in so many ways. According to other bible scholars like Van Impe and Chuck Missler, the beast is a another man and not a nation. The US beat the British with the help the French. Are the French in Bible Prophecy? The Spanish and the Dutch also contributed. In terms of bible knowledge…If so fine you win. But to contort history to somehow make the US and the Papacy fit together is not a stretch- but a broken paradigm.

Evangelicals need an Eucamenical Conference to decide what is what? I remember I went to a Prophecy Conference by some Church in Portland, Oregon. The first thing out of the Pastor’s mouth was that every other Christian Church was deceived by the devil. He was saying that the seven years accorded to the rule of the anti-christ was really fufilled by Christ and then his Apostles. Again, confusion.
